Khilafat Day - 2007
On Sunday the 27th of May 2007, a Khilafat Day Meeting
was held at Baitul-Huda Mosque in Sydney. Members of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat
all around the World celebrate the Khilafat Day on this day annually.
This date is significant as on this day in the year 1908, Hakim Maulana
Nooruddin (may God be pleased with him) was elected the Jamaat's first
Khalifa, after the demise of the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him).
Hence on this day, we all celebrate Allah's mercy in providing the blessings
of Khilafat.
The Naib Ameer of the Ahmadiyya Community of Australia, Khalid Saifullah
Khan chaired the meeting. It commenced after Zuhr Prayers at 1:45pm with
the recitation of the Holy Quran and its English translation by Syed Tariq
Ahmad. Imran Chandio then beautifully delivered a religious poem (nazm).
This was followed by a variety of informative and knowledgeable speeches
all on various aspects of Khilafat. There were two speeches in Urdu by
Khalid Abdul Nasir and Ashfaq Ahmad as well as two speeches in English,
which were presented by Mansoor Shah and Sarfaraz Raheem. Khalid Saifullah
Khan finally answered a few questions raised by some non-Ahmadis in relation
to the Ahmadiyyat Khilafat by quoting various verses of the Holy Quran
and sayings of the Holy Prophet. The meeting came to an end following
this with Khalid Saifullah leading silent prayers at 3:15pm.
