Walk for Peace’ to support Dementia Australia


On Sunday 29th October 2017, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Australia raised over $6,500 to support Dementia Australia at Marsden Park, NSW. It was a fun-filled day for all ages. Total of 150 people participated in the event by either running, walking or jogging the 5km track. The event was organised entirely by unpaid volunteers with no administrative costs and all the money raised was donated to Dementia Australia. Local community members and neighbours also participated to support this cause.

National Youth President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Australia, Waqas Ahmed said:

" It was a great privilege to be part of this amazing Walk for Peace which helped raise over $6,500 for Dementia Australia. Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Australia are proud to have worked with Dementia Australia and we thank all 150 people who attended the event on Sunday and made it a huge success. We look forward to next year’s Walk for Peace and hope to see more people attend and raise more much needed funds for Australian Charities.”

Community Fundraising Executive at Dementia Australia, Emma Jackson-South said:

“The Walk for Peace DIY Memory Walk & Jog on Sunday was a huge success and we couldn’t be more proud of Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth for such a well organised event. It was encouraging to see so many people come together to raise much needed funds and awareness for Dementia Australia. A huge thank you to everyone involved!"

“Service to mankind is the essence of Islam therefore we hope this will relieve the suffering and help the needy. It’s the little steps that lead to big steps towards a better future for people affected by dementia and Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is delighted to contribute to this cause.”
