Topic: The Concept of a Supreme Being in my faith
By the grace of Almighty Allah, the Interfaith Symposium organised by the Women's Auxiliary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Accociation ( Sydney ) was held on Sunday July 23, 2006 at Cook Parade Neighbourhood centre and was a great success. Al Hamdo Lilhah (By the grace of Allah)
The day was hosted by Sister Helen Musa, who started the program with the recitation of the Holy Scriptures, followed by a welcome for the guests and briefly introduced them to Islam - Ahmadiyyat.
There were various religions that were represented on the day, such as Hinduism, Christianity, Sikhisim and Islam. Each religion was represented by speakers from the relevant organisations, they included the Christian representative Carol Vella, Morman Christian representative Sister Stewart, Hindu Representative Krsnangi Mulder, Sikh Representative Jasmeen Kaur Malhotra and the Islamic representative Farhat Khurram.
A Beautiful poem was then presented in the Urdu language and group of girls made a visual/symbolic presentation enacting the meanings of the words with it. Sisters from the Hindu community also presented a poem in which they praised their Supreme Lord in a melodious rhyme. Another poem was presented by an Ahmadi Muslim sister with a theme of “Love for all hatred for none” , and was much appreciated by the audience. All the speakers and the audience were very pleased to be able to discuss similarities about their Supreme Being between all the religions.
The speakers were then presented with the book "Revelation, Rationality, Knowledge and Truth" written by the Hadrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad (ra), the fourth Head of the Ahmadiyya Movement worldwide as a gift on behalf of the Womens Auxillary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association, to appreciate the efforts of each speaker in taking part in this program to encourage peace and harmony amongst the followers of any belief .
Closing remarks were presented by the president of the Women's Auxiliary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Australia , Mrs. Amatul Malik Najam in which she thanked the guests and encouraged them to have such gatherings of faith which provide an opportunity to learn about each other.
The program concluded with a silent prayer, which was followed by a brief discussion between all participants and speakers . Refreshments were served afterwards, where the guests got a chance to mingle with each other.
The event could only be a success due to the blessings of God Alimghty and the efforts of the organisers along with the dedication of all those who worked behind the scenes. May Allah bless the efforts of all those who helped and contributed in making this event the beginning to everlasting peace amongst all citizens of this world and may He enable us to become better human beings in accordance with the teachings like, “Love for All, Hatred for none” . Ameen!
