On 6th September 2017, a delegation of 20 members from Jamaat Adelaide West andOn 6th September 2017, a delegation of 20 members from Jamaat Adelaide West andSouth lead by Respected Ameer Sahib Australia visited the South Australian Parliament on the invitation from the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon.Michael Atkinson. The delegation included President, Vice President, GeneralSecretary, Secretary of External Affairs and some other senior & Amla members of both Jamaats, Qaid Sahib Khuddamul Ahmadiyya and Zaeem Sahib Ansarullah ofRegion South Australia and two Lajna representatives.
The Hon. Speaker received and welcomed the delegates in the House of AssemblyThe Hon. Speaker received and welcomed the delegates in the House of Assembly(Lower House) and was presented a bouquet by Respected Ameer Sahib. The Hon.Speaker provided a detailed discourse of the Parliament House with wide-ranging aspects including the details of the chamber proceedings, the arrangement of government& opposition benches, architecture, and history of the Parliament & its building and different color schemes of the lower and upper house. It was an interactive discussion and the Speaker answered a number of questions from the delegates in great detail including those about his own background and career in politics.President Adelaide West Nasir Zia Sahib then presented the Hon. Speaker three books from Jamaat literature viz. 1) Life of Muhammad, 2) Islam’s response to contemporary issues and 3) World crisis and the pathway to peace.
Afterwards, the delegates had luncheon with the Hon. Speaker in the dining hall of theAfterwards, the delegates had luncheon with the Hon. Speaker in the dining hall of theParliament House. During the luncheon, the delegates introduced themselves to the Hon. Speaker. Numerous topics were discussed with him including an extensive discussion on the persecution of Ahmadis in Pakistan, Algeria, and Indonesia.Respected Ameer Sahib informed the Speaker of the laws set out in the constitution of Pakistan against Ahmadis and the punishments Ahmadis face for simply practicing their religion. Respected Ameer Sahib inquired about the possibility of the government of providing a quota for Ahmadis to migrate here. Respected AmeerSahib also invited the Speaker and his partner to attend Jalsa Salana UK next year.The Hon. Speaker encouraged Jamaat Ahmadiyya to engage their youth in mainstream political parties and pursue careers in politics where they can becomeCouncilors or work in the office of the politicians. It will help them to integrate further into the Australian mainstream society and positively influence the Australian opinion at large on the issues related to Islam and Muslims in Australia at local and national level. Respected Ameer Sahib also requested the Hon. Speaker to provide the opportunity to the Jamaat to attend a sitting session of the Parliament House on which the Ho. Speaker will advise based on the schedule for the next sitting of the parliament.

The Hon. Speaker invited Respected Ameer Sahib to sit on the chair of the speaker of House of Assembly which was a historic occasion for Jamaat Ahmadiyya in South Australia and was captured by MTA team.The Hon. Speaker then gave a tour of the Legislative Council Chamber (upper house) and the library of the Parliament. He informed that the library contains books on almost all the great leaders of the world. President Sahib requested the Hon. Speaker to add the book on the life of our beloved Prophet “Life of Muhammad” in the library and the Hon. Speaker appreciated it and will follow it up.The visit lasted for around 3 hours and concluded at around 3:15 pm.The event was comprehensively covered by the MTA team with photographs and video footage of the program.Kindly pray that may Allah help us to serve the Jamaat in the best possible way.
